St. Louis, United States - December 13, 2019 /PressCable/ —

St. Louis, Missouri (December 2019)– Most juniors take the ACT for the first time at the February administration, which also happens to be the next ACT – February 8, 2020, with the deadline for registration January 10, 2020.

The February test makes a good starting point because it gives a student time to prepare and also time to review the results and make course corrections before taking the test again either in April or June.

Students should not take the test, however, without real preparation. In order to do well on the ACT, a student must understand the test itself – its peculiar design, the specific skills tested, the format of questions, the pace of the sections.

Mackler Associates has been providing students in St. Louis tutoring for the ACT for over 35 years. Mackler students see significant improvement when they test after taking one of our courses, and Mackler takes pride in a long record of successful outcomes.

A high ACT score is essential not only to gaining entry to a student’s college of choice, but also to procuring merit-based scholarships that can save tens of thousands of dollars on the cost of a college education. ACT test prep is a wonderful and smart investment in a student’s future.

Mackler Associates offers a 20 hour, ten week course of instruction. To get the jump on the February ACT, now is the time to sign up for an ACT prep course.

Globes carpet kicks off with big sleeves and shades of pink

Aug 15, 2020

NEW YORK — Cynthia Erivo and Greta Gerwig rocked sparkling chokers as the Golden Globes red carpet kicked off Sunday, with Erivo in a hand-beaded custom Thom Browne gown and Gerwig in black and cream. Both went off-shoulder for the big night in Beverly Hills, California. Erivo, the “Harriet” star and fashion standout, said her dress includes designs of her favorite flower, the peony, at the hem and in her lining. The short-sleeve gown, Erivo told E!, took 800 hours. A huge blue stone dropped from her short necklace. Shades of pink had an early trend moment on Kirsten Dunst...

Solidarity march against anti-Semitism, acts of hate

Aug 15, 2020

NEW YORK — Throngs of demonstrators joined by elected officials walked solemnly across the Brooklyn Bridge in a solidarity march Sunday against anti-Semitism and all acts of hate. The “No Hate, No Fear" march was organized by New York's Jewish community in the wake of recent anti-Semitic attacks, including a knife attack at a Hanukkah celebration north of New York City that left five people wounded and a fatal shootout at a kosher grocery in Jersey City, New Jersey. The crowds of participants jammed the streets in lower Manhattan as they waited their turns to get across the bridge. “It...

Streep, Miranda and Stone are named as Met Gala co-0chairs

Aug 15, 2020

NEW YORK — Next year's Met Gala may be the closest we'll ever come to getting a Miranda Priestly moment at the starry event. Meryl Streep has been named as a co-chair of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. The Oscar-winner played Priestly, a thinly veiled fictional version of Vogue editor Anna Wintour, in the movie "The Devil Wears Prada." Wintour clearly has no hard feelings because she selected Streep as a co-chair along with Lin-Manuel Miranda and fellow Oscar-winner Emma Stone. Designer Nicolas Ghesquiere rounds out the group. The gala's theme is "About Time: Fashion and Duration," which...

Congress approves bill expanding animal cruelty law

Aug 15, 2020

WASHINGTON — Congress has passed a bill making certain types of animal cruelty a federal felony. The bill would expand a 2010 law that made creation or distribution of so-called "animal crushing" videos illegal. The new bill would make the underlying acts of cruelty a federal crime. The Senate unanimously passed the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act on Tuesday, two weeks after the House passed it on a voice vote. Florida Reps. Ted Deutch and Vern Buchanan sponsored the bill. Deutch, a Democrat, said it "sends a clear message that our society does not accept cruelty against animals" and...

Olivia Newton-John's final 'Grease' ensemble fetches $405K

Aug 15, 2020

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Two collectors said you're the one that I want to Olivia Newton-John's iconic "Grease" leather jacket and skintight pants at an auction Saturday in Beverly Hills. Julien's Auctions says the combined ensemble, which Newton-John's character Sandy wears in the closing number of the 1978 film, fetched $405,700 total. The leather jacket sold for $243,200 and the pants, which Newton-John famously had to be sewn into, went for $162,500. Other "Grease" memorabilia included a Pink Ladies jacket that went for $50,000 and a poster signed by Newton-John, John Travolta, director Randal Kleiser and producer and songwriter John...
