Destiny 2 sets a new concurrent player record with over 316k players

This massive looter shooter franchise captivates gamers once again with Bungie’s latest expansion, smashing the previous concurrent player record at 290k.

The long-awaited release of Lightfall expansion finally dropped on February 28, spiking the concurrent player count to 316k (according to SteamDB). Bungie successfully met the fan expectations after several delays and sneak peeks around this expansion.
The Lightfall expansion features the Neptunian city of Neomuna, following the Season of the Seraph. After being backed into a corner, the traveler searches for salvation on Neomuna, uncovering the mystery around the Veil.
There are many significant changes, from new weapon crafting features to new Exotics and much more. These changes allow players further to empower their travelers on the master difficulty mode. Still, the massive traffic of players did introduce longer queue times, especially during the first few hours of the launch.
Players mentioned having to wait 20 to 40 minutes to sign in to the game. However, these long queues didn’t deter players from pouring into the game while also reigniting Destiny 2’s spell in older players.
Bungie further confirmed several quality-of-life changes to the game that can be expected in upcoming patches to make the game easier for new players. At the same time, the increased difficulty of the master mode allows veterans and competitive players to stay engaged.
