While electric engines are not new, they have rarely been used in dirt bikes, and many consumers are unsure how they will hold up to the dusty conditions, bumpy roads, and other issues that come with using an off-road vehicle. This new report from Electric Dirt Biker Hub explores the most commonly asked questions and provides a full breakdown of the newest features.
The report explains that, by eliminating the combustion engines, the manufacturers have made the bikes quieter, lighter in weight, and easier to maneuver, without sacrificing engine power. While the exact weight and power will vary from bike to bike, the report suggests that the new base model Electric Motion Escape X can provide up to 11 kilowatts of power, which translates to approximately 15 horsepower.
Although the new bikes place a focus on electric power and eco-friendly usage, the report highlights several other improvements in the newest models, including the use of 35-millimeter inverted front forks. These advanced front forks allow the bike to travel up to 250 millimeters in order to absorb shocks from bumpy trails and steep climbs.
It can be difficult to estimate the range for electric vehicles, since it can vary widely based on speed, weather conditions, and battery load, however the company suggests that the base model Escape X can provide up to 80 kilometers of range, and can travel up to 85 kilometers per hour. The bike is also designed for easy travel and storage, with the heavier XR model weighing in at only 88 kilograms.
The full report also contains details about a wide range of new features, such as traction control, advanced regenerative braking, and anti-reverse. Each bike also includes a full-color screen, for monitoring speeds, battery levels, and other important details.
An excerpt from the report explains, “The traction control system ensures optimal grip on any terrain, while progressive regenerative braking extends your range by recovering energy during braking. And if you ever stall on a hill, the anti-reverse feature has your back, preventing you from rolling backward.”
