Throughout his academic career, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Wheaton College in 1959, and graduated with his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in 1963. He then went on to complete his internship at the Ireland Army Health Clinic in 1965, and his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Letterman Army Medical Center in 1968.
Recognized as a Life Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women's health.
Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system - vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).
A native of Burnham, Pennsylvania, Dr. Beaver and his wife, Pat, currently resides in Gainesville, Virginia.
