New York City, New York Sep 1, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - An established infectious disease specialist, Dr. Armas-Kolostroubis is the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at CAN Community Health, bringing over 20 years of experience in the public, private, and academic settings. She is passionate about patient-centered care and outcomes and firmly believes that CAN provides the kind of team environment to provide such care.

CAN Community Health has been serving the needs of the HIV community in Florida and now the southern part of the country, since 1991. They are a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the treatment, care, and continual wellness of people living with HIV, hepatitis C, STDs, and other diseases.

Before embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Armas-Kolostroubis got her medical education from the La Salle University Mexican School of Medicine in Mexico City and completed her postgraduate training at UT Southwestern affiliated hospitals. Later, she joined the staff at Parkland Health and Hospital System HIV Services, another UT Southwestern affiliate, where she also became the medical lead for the Women Specialty Center, participating in the design and implementation of a medical home for women living with HIV.

Simultaneously, she served as the Director of the Texas/Oklahoma AIDS Education and Training Center. Family reasons led to her move to Florida, joining the University of Florida as an Associate Professor and Medical Co-Director of the UF Care, Research and Education Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. This was followed by a move to one of the largest HIV-focused private practices, where she became the leader of the dysplasia clinic.

Maintaining fellowship status, Dr. Armas-Kolostroubis is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), and has been recognized as an American Academy of HIV Medicine Specialist (AAHIVS). In addition to her clinical role, she is the Co-Chair for the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Priority area of the State Health Improvement Plan and serves as Co-Chair for the American Academy of HIV Medicine Florida Steering Team. She has also served in local, state, and national work and advisory groups like the CDC, NIH, AmfAR, and others.

Infectious disease is a medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of all infections. An infectious disease specialist's practice also consists of managing nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections.

Style Edit: 45R’s new knits spotlight texture and Japanese craftsmanship

The appeal of a good knit is often immediate, from the softness against the skin to the reassuring volume and warmth. At 45R, those qualities begin well before a garment takes shape. The Japanese label’s latest selection puts the making process in focus, bringing together airy merino, characterful Shetland wool and the flecked textures of Donegal tweed. Founded in Tokyo in 1977, 45R approaches clothing through monozukuri, or the “art of making”, a philosophy centred on respect for craft and...

Suit linings: the link between the NFL draft and London’s Savile Row

Back in April, suit jackets lined with interesting graphics and prints emerged as one of the more unusual fashion trends at the 2026 NFL draft in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the annual event where professional American football teams pick out the best young players looking to enter the league. Colton Hood, then a Tennessee cornerback, now on the New York Giants’ roster, rocked up in a cobalt-blue jacket that, when opened, revealed a swathe of family photographs across the lining, chronicling his...

O3’s Luca Yang hated studying. So he built 24/7 study cafes to motivate people like him

At 22, Luca Yang was running a small teaching company in New Zealand after quitting a six-figure finance job that he hated. It had humble beginnings, where he tutored English online for A$25 (US$17.55) per hour just to get by. When one of his students got into Oxford, word spread: one student became 50, then 500. By most measures, he had already won the start-up lottery. “It was producing a lot of money, but it wasn’t something I actually loved doing,” says Yang, who was born and raised in...
