Dayton , United States - May 16, 2017 /PressCable/ —

Ohio based children’s author, Laura Ceville, has announced that she is training for her first triathlon. The event is set for 11 June 2017 at Deer Creek State Park in Mount Sterling, Ohio. It will be a sprint triathlon, with 0.5 miles of swimming, 12.4 miles of cycling, and 3.1 miles of running to finish it off. She is currently in her fifth month of training, which she hopes will culminate in the IRONMAN World Championship in October of 2019–the year she turns 40.

Athletes gain entry into the event in three ways: by earning a slot at a qualifying event, being selected in the IRONMAN Legacy program or by winning through the IRONMAN charitable eBay auction. More information can be found at: http://ironman.com/triathlon/events/americas/ironman/world-championship/athletes/qualification-faq.aspx#ixzz4gsuqKJ9Y.

Laura Ceville was born in Panama City, Panama, and came to the United States at a young age. It was here that she fell in love with the English language and kindled a dream to write fiction. She majored in English at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado and has gone on to publish a range of books.

She is also an Air Force veteran, graduating in 2002 as a Second Lieutenant. She separated from the Air Force in 2006, seeking to pursue the dream of getting published.

Laura published her first book in 2013, called My Dog, Jack. It features heartwarming illustrations, and she has since published four Kindle books, which are all available on Amazon. In addition to her writing career, Laura is the Vice President of The Brubaker Company, a mortgage and retirement protection company based in Eaton, Ohio.

Her coach for the triathlon is Don Scarpero of DCS Endurance Coaching. Don has been competing in triathlons for 26 years, and brings a wealth of experience to her training, helping Laura to get in the best shape for the event. Coach Scarpero is a USAT certified triathlon coach, an ASCA certified swimming coach, and a healthy running certified coach.

Hong Kong pianist John Lee does justice to Rachmaninov and more despite dry acoustics

The marketing of classical music concerts has increasingly focused on the musician rather than the music, with the often ephemeral cult of personality perceived as more valuable than the notes they play, at least in drawing an audience. So, it was refreshing to hear the fine young musician John Lee play. After studying at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where he is now a member of the faculty, Lee earned a master’s degree from the Royal College of Music in London with distinction and...

Why GLP-1 users’ impact on food-inspired fragrance market is nothing to sniff at

From cherry and banoffee pie to Tabasco and sesame, the list of food aromas popping up in luxury fragrances keeps growing. Now some perfume makers are starting to ask if weight-loss drugs might be reshaping what consumers want in a scent. So-called gourmand fragrances like Thierry Mugler’s pioneering candyfloss-inspired Angel and Nina Ricci’s toffee apple scent Nina have been around for decades. More recent growth in the segment has been attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic-era boom in online...

How betel nut chewing in China became a habit for millions, from emperors to commoners

The history of the betel nut, also known as the areca nut, stretches further back than previously thought. New research suggests that people on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi were enjoying its mind-altering effects as long as 25,000 years ago. The discovery began with two ancient skeletons whose teeth bore curious, deep grooves. Australian archaeologists suspected these were the result of repeatedly sucking on whole betel nuts. Chemical analysis subsequently detected traces of arecoline, the...

Yams vs sweet potatoes: the difference, nutrition and how to cook them

Widely known as Sam the Cooking Guy, Sam Zien is an enthusiastic proponent of sweet potatoes. He loves mashing them and seasoning with miso, butter and chopped spring onions. Or he cubes, boils and roasts the sweet potatoes, then adds a generous dollop of lemon yogurt, with sprinkles of dukkah, a mixture of chopped nuts and sesame seeds, seasoned with cumin, coriander and salt. Another way is to add sweet potatoes to quesadillas with Mexican chorizo, a highly seasoned fatty pork sausage, and...
