Premier Health and Holistic Medicine has launched its new report discussing muscle ache and its connection with Lyme disease. The center wants to improve awareness of the hallmarks and long-term risks associated with this debilitating condition and to create tailored health plans to combat the illness.

The new report is based on Dr. Ridinger’s own background as a board-certified physician in both family medicine and integrative holistic medicine. Lyme disease presents with a broad range of symptoms, and since at least half of individuals don’t experience the signature bullseye rash, they may never know they were bitten by a tick. Muscle aches, for example, are particularly common across a range of conditions, a fact demonstrating the need for a more holistic treatment model that treats the entire patient, rather than only the proximate causes.

According to a new estimate, almost half a million Americans are diagnosed and treated for Lyme disease each year. This figure points to a significant strain on the healthcare system and the need for more effective prevention strategies. Lyme disease cases are far more prevalent than HIV/AIDS, malaria, and the West Nile virus combined but it receives only a fraction of the public funding. And one of the most challenging aspects of diagnosing Lyme disease for clinicians is the lack of reliable testing; negative results are typically inconclusive.

In the report, Premier Holistic Health explains the paradoxical relationship between the immune system and muscle aches brought on by Lyme disease. When a person’s immune system is functioning appropriately, histamine release might cause muscle aches. If antibiotic medication is being taken, this can trigger the “Jarisch-Herxheimer” reaction, a particularly intense condition of muscle pain, chills, and fatigue.

Dr. Ridinger will work closely with patients, investigating their symptoms to determine if Lyme disease is the cause of an individual’s illness. Migraines and headaches can also be misleading symptoms on account of their association with other diseases. Similarly, the disease itself causes musculoskeletal problems, especially arthritis.

If a patient’s symptoms indicate the likelihood of Lyme disease, Dr. Ridinger and the team at Premier Health and Holistic Medicine will create an individualized treatment plan that considers diet, physical activity, and sleep patterns. Supplementation with hormones, antioxidants, and minerals can also be incorporated into any plan to help the body rebuild itself.

Dr. Ridinger is a Lyme disease expert with more than 25 years of experience, is devoted to treating a range of complex conditions including chronic fatigue syndrome, hormone imbalances, thyroid disorders, metabolic issues, autoimmune diseases, and arthritis.

“We are committed to fusing traditional medicine with integrative holistic practices,” said a clinic spokesperson. “In the case of Lyme disease, this approach can truly help relieve patients of an often disorienting, bewildering, and toxic range of symptoms.”

The inspiring story of Hong Kong dancer and filmmaker who began at 48 after leaving Apple

Patsy Lo has just flown into Hong Kong from Tokyo, where she is now based, and the humidity is doing what humidity does. It is a far cry from Patagonia, where just months ago, Lo and a small arts team from Asia spent days hiking in punishing conditions to shoot Anamnesis II. The 10-minute experimental dance film blends contemporary movement with the raw, unforgiving beauty of the Patagonian Steppe shared by Argentina and Chile. Shot in the shadow of Mount Fitz Roy, the film is the second...

Why Oliver Stone’s Snowden film remains a terrifying surveillance warning 10 years on

Oliver Stone is no stranger to controversy. Whether exploring conspiracy theories in JFK, attacking the media in Natural Born Killers or cosying up to authoritarian leaders such as Vladimir Putin and Hugo Chavez for his documentaries, he has never been afraid to fight to get his voice heard. This makes him the perfect candidate to tell the story of whistle-blower Edward Snowden in the narrative film Snowden, which turns 10 this month. Snowden (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is the former US...
