Atlanta, GA (Merxwire) – According to the medical profession, drinking 100-200 mg of caffeine every day can be refreshing. Scientists from all over the world have done research on the advantages and disadvantages of coffee. Some of them have found that coffee can reduce people’s risk of Type 2 diabetes, while others have found that coffee can reduce cardiovascular and neurological diseases.

Coffee & Diabetes mellitus

In 2012, a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry showed that there are three compounds in coffee, including caffeine, Caffeic acid, and Chlorogenic acid. They seem to hinder the accumulation of toxicity of a certain protein from reducing Type 2 diabetes risk.

Type 2 diabetes is usually caused by the human body not having enough insulin, or the cells have neglected the hormone that can convert glucose into cell energy. This type of diabetes accounts for the majority of diabetes cases in the world and is a research target that the medical community attaches great importance to.

Earlier studies also showed that people who drank four or more cups of coffee a day had a 50% lower risk of Type 2 diabetes compared with people who did not drink coffee. With every extra cup of coffee, the risk is reduced by nearly 7%.

Coffee & Alzheimer’s disease

Caffeine is a stimulating substance. People believe that coffee can stimulate the nervous system and fight anxiety. Office workers in many places also use caffeine to stay awake and alert. This has been a long-term habit. Can such stimulation reduce the risk of neurodegenerative diseases?

A study published in the British Medical Journal in 2017 showed that drinking coffee can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. However, this survey study may affect the relevant survey data as the tester’s age, weight, and lifestyle changes, so the researchers pointed out that in-depth research is needed in the future to provide a complete survey report.

However, to date, studies have also pointed out that higher coffee consumption is significantly associated with a decrease in brain capacity, and drinking more than 6 cups of coffee a day may increase the risk of diseases such as dementia and stroke. Please note that if the human body consumes too much coffee or adds too much sugar to coffee, it may be harmful to health.

Coffee & Heart Failure

In 2021, according to a study published in “AHA journal Circulation: Heart Failure,” drinking more than two cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of heart failure by about 30%.

The study found that compared with all other dietary factors, the correlation between drinking coffee and reducing the risk of heart failure was more prominent.

Among them, drinking one cup or less than one cup of coffee a day has no effect, but compared to people who do not drink coffee, drinking two cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of heart failure by 5-12%. When people drink more than two cups of coffee a day, they reduce heart failure risk by about 30%.

Although drinking coffee has some benefits, you should not drink too much. Especially for pregnant women, if you drink more than 4 cups of black coffee a day during pregnancy, it may put the baby at risk of being underweight, premature delivery, or stillbirth. Some patients with special diseases should also discuss the matter of drinking coffee with their doctors to prevent coffee from damaging their health.

Scotland’s wild wellness boom, from Gleneagles to Loch Lomond

For a while, the blueprint for a serious wellness trip looked pretty much the same everywhere. A flight to somewhere warm, a resort with a view of jungle or terraced rice paddies, a treatment menu borrowing names from ancient traditions, and enough linen to last a lifetime. Scotland was never really part of that picture. It was the place people went for whisky, castles and rain, not the place they went to reset. Then this summer, Scotland’s men’s football team appeared at their first World Cup...
