ORANGE, Calif. – My Youth Aesthetics Med Spa, a medical spa in Old Town Orange led by registered nurse Muna Aboabdo, RN, BSN, is centering its practice on individualized facial balancing, under-eye rejuvenation and correction of previous filler. The approach is built for patients who want to look refreshed while keeping the features that make them recognizable, including patients who were unhappy with results they received elsewhere.

“The goal is for patients to look refreshed and youthful, while still looking completely like themselves,” Aboabdo said.

From biological research to critical care

Aboabdo’s path began in biological research, which gave her a foundation in cellular function, healing and the human body. She later worked as a registered nurse in critical care, emergency and surgical settings, caring for unstable patients in high-pressure hospital environments. She credits that experience with shaping how she approaches aesthetics: carefully, methodically and with close attention to anatomy, safety and patient trust.

That clinical background also taught her to listen. Before any treatment, she asks what a patient dislikes, what they hope to improve and what they want to preserve. Rather than starting from a set treatment, she builds the plan around the individual face.

Why natural results became personal

Before becoming a provider, Aboabdo had several treatments that left her looking overfilled rather than naturally enhanced, including at established practices in Newport Beach and Beverly Hills. That frustration led her into aesthetics, first to learn how to create the result she had been looking for herself. Over more than eight years in the field, she has developed her own facial-balancing techniques that avoid exaggerated cheeks, lips and proportions.

Results patients can evaluate for themselves

Aboabdo regularly shares before-and-after photos so prospective patients can see real outcomes, judge a provider’s aesthetic style and understand what may be possible before committing to treatment. That visibility matters most for patients who arrive nervous after seeing unnatural work online.

Specializing in delicate areas

Her work focuses on facial balancing, under-eye rejuvenation, non-surgical treatment of under-eye bags, eyelid skin tightening (sometimes called non-surgical blepharoplasty), filler correction and skin regeneration treatments. The under-eye and midface areas get particular attention because small changes there can affect how rested and balanced the whole face appears.

She also treats patients seeking correction of previous filler and those interested in customized non-surgical rejuvenation. Across each category, the method is the same: assess the face as a whole, preserve natural proportions and avoid one-size-fits-all plans.

Correction, rejuvenation and facial harmony

Correction has become a defining part of Aboabdo’s work. Patients come to the practice when previous filler no longer suits their face, when an area has been overtreated, or when their goals have changed. For Aboabdo, correction is not about chasing perfection. It is about bringing the face back into proportion, restoring balance and creating a result that looks and feels natural.

She studies facial structure, movement and the relationship between features before deciding where treatment may, or may not, be appropriate. She also explains the reasoning behind each plan so patients know what to expect.

Rebuilding trust after previous results

Aboabdo sees rebuilding trust with patients who have had unsatisfactory aesthetic results as one of the field’s main challenges, alongside the technical work. Educating these patients helps them understand their options and work toward the result they wanted in the first place.

She focuses on lasting proportions rather than trends, aiming for a refreshed, lifted and balanced look in which the treatment is not the first thing people notice.

Teaching and continuing education

Aboabdo has expanded into clinical training for other aesthetic providers and is completing her path toward nurse practitioner (NP) licensure. She treats continuing education as part of the responsibility of working with patients, and wants My Youth Aesthetics to be known for careful decision-making, honest education and a high standard of care.

Looking ahead

Aboabdo plans to grow My Youth Aesthetics Med Spa into a recognized destination for natural-looking aesthetic results in Orange County and beyond. Her approach avoids cookie-cutter treatment: every face has different needs and may call for different treatments and techniques to keep results natural. Her role, she says, is to educate each patient, create a personalized treatment plan and enhance what is already there rather than follow trends.

“Aesthetics should enhance your natural beauty, not erase it,” Aboabdo said.

Individual results vary and are not guaranteed. Before-and-after photos show individual patients. All treatments begin with an individual consultation.

How an architect is using art and technology to preserve Toronto Chinatown’s history

Opened in the 1950s, Sai Woo was a two-storey restaurant in Toronto’s Chinatown, with a traditional Chinese banquet hall on the upper floor. Designed for wedding celebrations, the space featured a canopy with two columns, a golden dragon entwined on one and a phoenix on the other. Lazy Susans sat atop the round banquet tables. Chinatown was also home to Charlie’s Meat and Seafood, a white-tiled butcher shop that opened in 1971. Inside was a glass display case filled with cuts of meat. On the...

Fibre or protein – which is more important? ‘It’s about balance,’ experts say

To answer these questions, we spoke to two dietitians, who shared their expert advice and explained how protein and fibre can complement each other. “Both are important,” says Dr Linia Patel, a UK-based women’s health dietitian, performance...

Why John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China is both problematic and progressive

In 1986, a strange coincidence occurred in Hollywood. Despite the industry having previously shown little interest in the subject, two major Chinese-themed fantasy films were released in the same year: John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China and the Eddie Murphy vehicle The Golden Child. Ever the cynic, Carpenter refused to believe in serendipity. “How many adventure pictures dealing with Chinese mysticism have been released by the major studios in the past 20 years?” he asked Starlog...

Mala, coriander, congee? This UK doctor sells Cantonese-inspired bread from home

Every fortnight in Walthamstow, East London, a sign with a hand-painted goldfish pointing towards a kitchen window appears on the side of a residential building: “Lucky Yu Bakery pick up”.
