Jason Baum, of Las Islas de Doramas, which breeds, sells and shows Presa Canario dogs, has been approved this year by the AKC to be an official judge for the breed. He is the first and only person to be approved by the AKC for the breed, highlighting his expert knowledge of the dog, which he has developed over the last 14 years.

Jason is also the president of the Dog Canario Club of America, and has instituted 11 regional speciality shows around the country, in addition to the National Show, which has been judged by judges from Spain and the Canary Islands.
The breeders of Las Islas De Doramas are fluent in Spanish and have studied the breed, in addition to visiting the Canary Islands more than most, if not all breeders in the country. They know personally and have studied and visited the kennels of most of the top breeders in Spain, and Tenerife, as well as Gran Canaria, Las Palmas of the Canary Islands.
The owners of Las Islas de Doramas have also become acquainted with every judge who has come over from Europe and the Canary Islands to judge the US National Show, visiting their kennels and learning from their breeding experience.

Each dog they offer has been chosen from champion lines and their dogs have won first place titles in almost every show that they attend.
