Established in 1977 by her father, Dr. Sam Klagsbrun, Four Winds Hospitals has a mission to provide exceptional patient care, a mission she is dedicated to continuing. Dr. Klagsbrun focuses on treating patients as individuals and alleviating their suffering.
Her specialties include bipolar disorder, psychosis, autism spectrum disorders, depression, trauma, and PTSD. Some of the treatment modalities that she employs include Applied Behavioral Analysis, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness-based (MBCT).
In addition to her clinical role, Dr. Klagsbrun serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She has received a Teaching Commendation Letter for overall excellence in teaching from the Office of Medical Education.
During her educational journey, Dr. Klagsbrun graduated from Princeton University, Magna Cum Laude. She then received her Medical Degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency and child psychiatry fellowship at the Payne Whitney Clinic of New York Presbyterian Hospital. Further enhancing her expertise, she completed an Advanced Child Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program at the Columbia Psychoanalytic Institute in New York.
Board-certified in adult psychiatry as well as in child and adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Klagsbrun is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
Actively involved in professional organizations, Dr. Klagsbrun serves on the Board of the New York Council on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In addition, she holds the titles of Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (DFAPA) and Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (DFAACAP).
Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
