Because glaucoma is hereditary and has been linked to certain lifestyle factors and health conditions, White Plains Eye Care will also look at the patient’s family history and overall health in addition to evaluating the interior and exterior of their eyes.
White Plains Eye Care’s facilities are also equipped with advanced diagnostic technology such as the Visionix VX 120 Multi-Diagnostic Unit, which is effective in determining a patient’s risk of developing open- or closed-angle glaucoma, and the Visionix iScan80, which provides optometrists with detailed segment scans of the retina, optic nerve, and anterior segment. Patients who experience other symptoms, such as sudden or chronic headaches or who have elevated eye pressure, are examined with the Zeiss Humphrey Matrix 800, which tests peripheral vision and allows White Plains Eye Care’s doctors to determine whether there is optic nerve damage or a neurological component to the headaches.
